Since launching in the spring of last year, HBO’s new on-demand video streaming service HBO Max has quickly emerged as one of the leading providers of new and original content. Backed by arguably one of the most successful movie networks in all of Hollywood, HBO has benefited immensely over the past year by establishing a distribution network in HBO Max that continued to allow them to put out new content even at the height of a global pandemic. While the pandemic is seemingly beginning to wind down, the esteemed network doesn’t seem to be changing its strategy much as they plan to continue to produce new original content that will fulfill the demands of their 67 million subscribers and allow them to compete with the likes of Netflix and Hulu. One great example of this is a new project they currently have in the pipeline with some A list names already attached to it that explores the underbelly of being a celebrity in Hollywood in The Idol.
