“May the odds be in your favor.” -The Hunger Games
The 2012 film adaption of the novel The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins took the world by storm with its dystopian story line, fascination with archery, and having Jennifer Lawrence star as Katniss Everdeen for all three films was nothing short of amazing.
Collins revealed her plans to pen a prequel to the popular trilogy “set 64 years before the start of the original Hunger Games novel series and timed for the reaping of the Tenth Hunger Games,” The Hollywood Reporter announces.
In a statement released early this morning, the chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Joe Drake states:
“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
Lionsgate debuted the first four Hunger Games films that earned nearly $3 billion dollars in the box office worldwide.
Collins prequel is set to be released in May 2020.
