Lizzo told her 1.42 million followers she was taking an Twitter hiatus.
The ‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker took to the micro-blogging site Sunday to let her fans know she will be distant for a while because she can’t take it anymore. “Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s*** no more.. too many trolls … I’ll be back when I feel like it.” Lizzo went off on a hater last month, after they discredited her talent, stage performance and songwriting skills and said her plus-size body has made her famous.
The twitter troll exclaimed, “Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease. ” Lizzo replied,
“I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you. Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered.”
The 31-year-old star spoke days earlier stating, “I’ve been doing positive music for a long-a** time. Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialised thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly I’m mainstream!”
Lizzo finished by stating, “How could we have guessed something like this would happen when we’ve never seen anything like this before?”
Lizzo we applaud you and all you are doing. KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY!
