It’s official! the new casting was finally revealed! And Marvel fans are officially losing their minds over the new Silver Surfer actor.
Deadline is reporting that Garner will be playing a version of the character Sharra-Bal, the lover of Norrin Radd, despite the Silver Surfer originally being Norrin Radd, a man (Mind Blowing!)
Reaction of Garner’s New Casting
Doug Jones previously portrayed the role of Norrin in the 2005 film “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” However, while many fans reacted astonishingly, most fans were highly excited! This new casting has everyone jumping out of their seats! And not only are fans reacting — actor-producer Lakeith Stanfield has reacted to Julia Garner being cast as Silver Surfer. There was much fan speculation and casting buzz surrounding Stanfield for the role, with the actor hinting that he believed it would be him.
While Garner has received three Emmys, some fans doubt her ability to embody the gravitas required to portray the messenger of a planet-devouring deity who travels through space on a surfboard.
Fantastic Four: Update
There have been many announcements in 2019 that were set to change, and earlier this year the casting was confirmed.
The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), with The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby to play Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach cast as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Strangers Things star Joseph Quinn to be Johnny Storm (The Human Torch).
