On Tuesday (Dec.2) Marvel released the trailer for Black Widow, its 24th comic-book adventure, starring Scarlett Johansson and it’s a family affair. Marvel’s first solo film starring Johansson’s superhero finds Russian spy-turned-hero Natasha Romanoff reuniting with her sister-figure (Florence Pugh), an older Black Widow (Rachel Weisz) and the Red Guardian (David Harbour).
Black Widow first debuted on screen in 2010’s Iron Man and later appeared in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
This movie takes place following the events of 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and before 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
The biggest reveal, outside of all of the action in Black Widow, is the first official look at the villain of the movie, Taskmaster. Taskmaster is able to perfectly mimic the motions of an adversary, and the new footage sees Black Widow assembling her crew to defeat him.
Black Widow, directed by Cate Shortland, arrives in theaters May 1, 2020. Check out the trailer down below:
