The father of Flatbush Zombies‘, Meechy Darko was reported dead over the weekend. This news came about yesterday after XXL released a press release from the Miami police department, which went in-depth about the occurrence. According to the M.P.D., Darko’s father, Ryan O. Simms, stabbed Miami police officer, Ricardo Castillo after Castillo and the force responded to a security call from Mango’s Cafe on Saturday night. Over the telephone, staff called for an S.O.S. because Simms was threatening them with a knife. Once Castillo intervened, Simms stabbed him. Then, police went full force and shot Simms. Sources say that Castillo is in the Intensive Care Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Last night, Meechy Darko shared a sentimental post of himself and his father. He says in the post how his heart is shattered, then follows by shedding light on their relationship and how important it is to check up on your loved ones, unveiling that his father was dealing with mental illness:
“Never in my life felt pain like this before. I’m trying to stay strong and be tough for him. I’m filled with so many emotions right now. I don’t want to come on here for any sympathy. I want to spread this message. To Any and everyone out there dealing with Mental illness. Please get help. This has been a Battle that My Family and I have been dealing with for over a decade, suffering in silence,” he continues. “I used to think there was strength in that…I love my father. So Much. Never once was ever ashamed of him despite what may have been going through mentally or what he may have thought in his head.”
