At last, after garnering a plethora of awards, topping charts, dropping a fiery EP, and making tumultuous headlines, Megan Thee Stallion has returned with news of her debut album, Good News.
This week the rapper revealed that Good News will be out on Friday, November 20. The art is inspired by all of the headlines inspired by her, with Meg herself in a glass case holding a newspaper featuring her on the front page.
“Hotties, I first want to say thank you for riding with me, growing with me, and staying down with me since my first mixtape Rich Ratchet!” Thee Stallion wrote on Instagram. “Through this rough ass year we’ve all been having I felt like we could all use a lil bit of good news,” and it is so very true. Between living in a pandemic, and moving on from being shot this summer, allegedly by one of her closest friends, Tory Lanez, Thee Stallion has consistently proven herself and has shown no signs of letting up. It’s time for some soul-refreshing news!
It’s been such a big year for Meg. She has released hit after hit. First, she dropped her project Suga and joined Cardi B for the massively popular single “WAP.” Meg also released the Beyoncé-featuring remix of “Savage.” (YES Beyoncé!) Her last single as lead artist was the Young Thug–featuring “Don’t Stop,” which received an Alice in Wonderland–themed music video and the promise that a new album was in the works.
She also headlined on Saturday Night Live earlier this year, where she made a political declaration: “We need to protect our Black women. And love our Black women. ’Cause at the end of the day, we need our Black women. We need to protect our Black men and stand up for our Black men because at the end of the day, we’re tired of seeing hashtags of our Black men.” Surrounding that performance, she launched a scholarship fund and penned a New York Times op-ed called “Why I Speak Up for Black Women.”
Now, she’s back with a fervor that cannot be tamed! While we don’t know what Good News will sound like, we know one thing for sure. It will be a booty-shaking, face twisting, BOP!
