In the world of Hollywood, a star-studded action film is enough to potentially make or break a production company’s year. Whether that be a timeless classic like the Die Hard franchise or something more recent like the Fast & Furious franchise, these projects have become the entertainment industry’s bread and butter. Amassing box office receipts to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars while satisfying the demands of millions of moviegoers worldwide, it isn’t really of much surprise when another project similar in style to the aforementioned springs up and catches people’s attention. The latest project of the sort has been busy rounding out its cast with Mickey Rourke announced as the latest addition to the upcoming action flick Section Eight.
Announced just a few weeks ago, Section Eight is set to be a star-studded affair about a former soldier who is sent to prison after avenging his family’s death only to have the government set him free on the grounds he works for them. An intriguing plot no doubt, the film’s cast has some equally interesting faces already in Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins and Ryan Kwanten who have already been announced to appear in the upcoming project’s cast. Now they can add Rourke to the lineup as well, who won an Oscar for his performance in the 2008 film The Wrestler and has led an impressive Hollywood career to say the least. Per his IMDb page, the actor has earned 94 acting credits since launching his career back in the 1970’s and is seemingly not looking to slow down anytime soon. What role he is set to play in Section Eight is currently unknown, with the project still in the infantile stages of production at this time.
Similarly to Rourke, Lundgren has additionally led a remarkable Hollywood career that seemingly makes them the ideal pair for such a project. Lundgren also has 97 acting credits to his name, per his IMDb page, but began his career nearly a decade after Rourke’s, highlighting the steadfast pace both men work at. It should be interesting to see what comes of this collaboration, and interested fans can remain on the lookout for further updates about Section Eight in the coming weeks.
