Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny have been added to the second season of Netflix’s true crime series Monsters. The new episodes will focus on an infamous murder case from the early 1990s, which involved two brothers from a wealthy family who were convicted of killing their parents. Bardem and Sevigny will play the aforementioned parents.
The cast list also includes Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. They will be playing the Mendez brothers.
The Mendez brothers’ story kicked off in 1989. At that time, the Mendez brothers shot their parents in their Beverly Hills mansion. However, they weren’t convicted until 1996 because their siblings, Lyle and Erik Menendez, were spending a lot of money the night of their parents’ murder. So, they were assumed to be the suspects. The prosecution accused them of killing their parents for their inheritance. Once the trials got traction, however, the Mendez brothers revealed that they both suffered physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their father, which pushed them to murder their parents.
