HipHopSince1987’s DJ Tarzan and myself had the pleasure to be in the building at The Loft at Q Studios in Hoboken NJ where HHS1987 sat down with the Rap God himself Montana Of 300 and his upcoming artist No Fatigue. The lyrical Chicago rapper has been dropping gems in the industry and helping people overcome their struggles through his music for years.
DJ Tarzan: Other than the obvious hard hitting punch lines and meaningful words you portray through your music, what does Hip Hop mean to you?
Montana Of 300: “I feel like I mastered HipHop and the secret to doing that is to just stop being stupid . I been opening my mind and soaking up whatever I can, not only as an artist but as a person. Just because you been on this Earth a certain amount of years where you feel you know it all a 5 year old can come along and teach you something new. You have to just been open to listening”.
Thats fire. I mean now 7 albums later how are you approaching the game differently?”
I’m a very selfless person you know, some of my best feelings is honestly seeing the smiles from fans faces. I know what its like to be down and wish I could run into opportunities. Thats why I give back. I don’t care about followers and the popularity aspect pf the game. I’ve always shared my stage with other upcoming artists whenever I went on tour. Sometimes theres artists that have artists they trying to put on that never actually put the on and that just isn’t how Im moving. My artist No Fatigue is coming out —
How did No Fatigue and yourself get introduced ?
No Fatigue: I had my cousin listen to my songs and showed montana and its been history from there. I have a single out now “I’m So Brooklyn RMX” and an EP coming out in the next month followed by an album on the way. Shouts to Talley Of 300 he also is dropping an album “The Son” out now on all major platforms.
Speaking on NYC and myself being from NJ. I didn’t know about how other places moved until I went out to Chicago with Fat Trell. I just didn’t understand how the different hoods were..When I went out to your area of the Windy City I witness how real it was and how they still got it popping out there.
Montana Of 300: Chicago is the birth place of gang bangin its a product of that. If I kill your brother your mentality is going to be like Im going to kill someone close to him. Its like a basketball game without a shock clock and kids are being born into this witnessing guns being put on someones head. As a kid and human beings period we follow what we see but no one is teaching kids that this is all a game, its a gamble your gambling with your life feel me. Theres so many ways to lose and only one way to win. “All they know is the sauce, they don’t know the cost“ and I said that in my song ‘Middle Child’ meaning they don’t know the risk behind all this gang violence and drug dealing.
I feel you. Thats deep. Is that why you call yourself the “Rap God”? You’ve helped so many people through your words.
I mean, God you call him the creator and the destroyer and I look at myself like I create music and I can also destroy any rapper I feel I want to. Thats how true and significance it is naming myself “Rap God” . I get uplifting messages everyday like “you got me through my bids” , “you were the reason why I don’t drink and smoke anymore”— it touches me and lets me know I’m doing my part and having an effect on human evolution. Period.
Word. Its like you raised them with your lyrics and helped them grow. Fire. Whats next for Montana Of 300 and the team?
I’m not in a race with other rappers like Im not in a fashion show or car show with ya I’m about all about rap. I’m just not about material things. I could go buy a 50k chain then have to go drop 50k on security, whats the point of all of that ? So I’m just taking my time with mine I have no competition lyrically, but I do have a movie coming out soon I don’t want to get too much into that, i have an album dropping January 2020 called “A Cold Day In Hell” and another album dropping May 2020 called “RAP GOD” which will be my best album yet.
Thank you Montana Of 300 and No Fatigue for taking the time out to sit with us and really dropping gems. Keep a look out on upcoming new music and for the full interview dropping soon!
