Hip-Hop is about to experience a historic moment. On Monday, September 8th, Nas confirmed that a long-awaited Mobb Deep album titled Infinite is officially on the way, giving fans a reason to anticipate 2025 with renewed excitement. The project, produced entirely by Havoc and The Alchemist, will serve as both a tribute to the late Prodigy and a continuation of Mobb Deep’s enduring legacy.
In a short Instagram teaser, Havoc reflected on the weight of the creative process: “We didn’t have no choice but to make ill songs. We really dug deep and was like, ‘Aight, let’s do it, man, with these lyrics, the beats’”. Nas amplified the announcement in his caption: “@mobbdeepqb Against The World #Infinite coming soon”.
The album marks Mobb Deep’s first full-length release since 2014’s The Infamous Mobb Deep and their first since Prodigy’s untimely passing in 2017. Havoc recently confirmed on Drink Champs that the record is fully finished: “This s### is official. It’s done. S### is mixed, mastered, ready to go”. Meanwhile, The Alchemist praised Prodigy’s timeless pen in an earlier interview: “They did so much work, it was insane. You could just peel back layers in Prodigy’s rhymes. He was ahead of his time”.
Infinite is part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It… series, a curated lineup of projects spotlighting Hip-Hop greats. The series will also feature collaborative albums from Nas & DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, De La Soul, Big L, and a still-undisclosed surprise act. Announced in April, the rollout is set to extend through the end of 2025, cementing itself as one of the most ambitious retrospectives in Hip-Hop history.
The timing of Infinite is particularly meaningful. It arrives alongside the 30th anniversary of Mobb Deep’s 1995 classic The Infamous, an album that revolutionized East Coast Hip-Hop with its stark, unapologetic portrait of Queensbridge street life.
While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, Nas’ announcement signals that the wait is nearly over. For fans, Infinite is a bridge between eras, honoring Prodigy’s legacy while reaffirming Mobb Deep’s place as one of Hip-Hop’s most powerful duos.
