Cartoons are just as old as virtually any other form of television, with the first example airing all the way back in 1908. In the century that has passed since then, a myriad of different cartoons have made their way to television programming with varying degrees of success. Among those include those produced by the production company Hannah-Barbera Productions, founded by the creators of the notorious children’s cartoon Tom and Jerry. However it’ll be another cartoon they produced that serves as the inspiration for the new HBO Max series Jellystone that will serve to introduce a new generation of fans to one of the most timeless eras of animated television.
While some of us may be too young to remember some of the timeless cartoons Hannah-Barbera produced, it’s impossible to not recognize them as some of the most iconic cartoons in the history of the genre. The cartoon that inspired this new HBO Max series is 1991’s Yo Yogi!, an animated series about a myriad of characters including the notorious Yogi Bear and his family. Now Jellystone will be bringing back that diverse cast of characters to the excitement of those who grew up with the classic cartoon while also introducing a new generation of fans to the world of Hannah-Barbera. This will be the second project to do so, following up the 2020 animated film Scoob! that brought back the classic Scooby-Doo franchise. Jellystone is currently available on HBO Max with twenty episodes ordered for the first season.
HBO Max has been quickly establishing themselves as one of the leading streaming services available today. Not only are they producing an array of original content for subscribers, but additionally serving as the distributor of many of the new films that were released during the pandemic. Jellystone joins an already stacked line-up of content that only appears to be getting even more impressive as time passes. Interested viewers can catch the new animated series on HBO Max now.
