Paramount Pictures has recently released a sneak peak into the new Blumhouse and MGM+ horror film titled There’s Something Wrong With The Children. The new horror film will be showcasing new talents with newcomers Briella Guiza and David Mattle as the sinister children, while Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), Amanda Crew (Silicon Valley), Alisha Wainwright (Raising Dion), and Carlos Santos (Gentefied) play the parent couples. The film is directed by Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S/), who some say is beginning to acquire a reputation for a fondness for cinema involving creepy children. From this, horror fans can anticipate the film will be more than satisfying.
The film will tell the story about two couples, each with one child, who decide to go on a fun weekend trip that suddenly becomes not so fun at all. The two children who at first seem to be enjoying themselves begin to take a dark turn and the parents are left to fend for their lives. The trailer begins with everyone in high spirits. The children are playing in the house normally as the parents share drinks and discuss fun activities for the weekend’s itinerary. Then suddenly the mood changes as we see the couple decide to go on a hiking trip bringing one of the kids along with them. Following an old trail, the group is led into a frightening abyss and decide to return home. However, this abyss seems to harbor some evil supernatural spirit that appears to enchant the child.
The next day arrives and the adults surprisingly discover both kids have escaped to the woods. A search for the kids is launched. When Ben (Gilford) finally finds them, the children jump into a deep fissure. Does not seem like they want to be found but it continues. After returning home the children get stranger and stranger by the second and dangerous. We are shown one of the kids jokingly attempting to shoot an arrow at one of the adults. One kid sporting an evil smile and the other a demon like twinkle of the eye are just a few hints that there is something sinisterly wrong with the children. The rest of the trailer is a fight for survival after the kids unleash hell on their parents who have no idea of the terror and chaos to come.
Set to be released January 17, 2023.
