Everyones favorite horror has will be making a comeback! The prequel to 2009’s Orphan has ended filming. As we know, Orphan follows the story of a couple devastated by the loss of their unborn baby. Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard) decide to adopt a child. At the orphanage, both feel drawn to a little girl (Isabelle Fuhrman) named Esther, and soon the couple take their new daughter home. Once home, the story unfolds and an unfathomable fate falls upon the couple. Esther turns out to be a murderous adult, who hides beneath a plethora of makeup and children’s clothes.
The prequel Orphan: First Kill will be extremely violent and brutal, according to its director William Brent Bell. We will see Esther escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travel to America while impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. While there, she is against the mother who will stop at nothing to protect her family.
In Bloody Disgusting’s podcast, Bell discussed whats to come in Orphan: First Kill. He says:
“The movie has a very childlike quality in some ways, but it’s also extremely violent at other times. Because she’s a violent psychopath. The movie is turning out just awesome. [Esther] is this very romantic person who so much wants love and then when she doesn’t get it, a different side of her comes out. And it’s brutal. So the movie really plays both of those sides really well. So it has a really big heart for her, but it also has a real… super dark side.”
Orphan: First Kill does not yet have a release date, but it is in the final stages of completion.
