Meek Mill has been fighting a legal battle for over a decade now. After his arrest two years ago, the entire nation was outraged at how much trouble Judge Genece Brinkley was putting the Philly rapper through. The Hip Hop community got together and rallied for his freedom.
Rappers such as Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z, T.I., Rick Ross and more have spoken out regarding Meek’s case, causing a domino effect that soon raised more than enough awareness to set Mill free temporarily.
Brinkley has reportedly requested that he leave his contract with Roc Nation to sign under her friend’s label instead. Of course he declined, which led many to believe she then formed a personal vendetta against the rapper. Even though these rumors have been circulating for quite some time, no one allowed her removal nor did she step down from the case.
Not anymore. Things are looking up for Meek in Summer 2019. The prosecutor has finally deemed in necessary to remove Brinkley from the case. The mandate was granted on Monday, June 3.
Mill’s attorney, Jordan Siev released a statement expressing his gratitude.
“We’re looking forward to the oral argument before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and to, hopefully, having Meek’s conviction vacated. In light of the District Attorney’s recent filing, where he supports the granting of a new trial to Meek and the recusal of Judge Brinkley, we hope to have this injustice rectified once and for all.”
