In a thrilling new trailer for Netflix’s Rebecca, released on Monday, Lily James (Yesterday) and Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) play a just married couple after a sizzling romance in Monte Carlo. Based on Daphne du Maurier’s gothic novel, Lily James plays a woman who gets swept away by her new husband’s imposing estate in the English countryside and entrapped in the mystery of his late first wife, Rebecca.
Co-starring Fleabag’s Kristin Scott Thomas, Sam Riley, Keeley Hawes, and Ann Dowd, Rebecca is produced by the same team who produced Darkest Hour (2017) and Atonement (2007). Hitchcock’s 1940 oscar-nominated adaptation of the same name is sure to be a tough comparison for this one to live up to. However, Ben Wheatley, the film’s director, refuses to call his version a remake.
Rebecca was produced by Working Title Films and features a screenplay by Jane Goldman, Joe Shrapnel, and Anna Waterhouse.
You can catch Rebecca on Netflix on October 21.
