SaVannah may be an upcoming R&B act, but she has all the qualities of new-age triple threat icon. The actress, dancer, singer/songwriter sat down with HipHopSince1987 DJ Tarzan, Charlie B TV, and TheFeaturePresentation’s own Boom Boom to chat about her new single “How I Do It” along with her partner in crime, Director of A&R for RocNation and nephew of rap mogul Jay-Z, Rel Carter, who will be working closely with her on her upcoming projects . Her modern new school with a splash of that R&B soul single is an undeniable smash. The music video, directed by Paul “Pablo” Fant, along with SaVannah and husband, manager, and creative partner, Devin White combined ideas on conceptualizing the visual for the single. The video starts off with an old Sanyo TV and quickly turns into a dimmed neon-lit sexy whole vibe. Savannah, who wrote the hit along with Ayaana Nash, is excited and humble for all the blessings that are headed her way. Naturally a calm soul with a smooth vocal centerpiece, SaVannah has been eloquently mastering the melodies and lucidly bringing forth lustful lyrics for quite some time now. The “Crazy, Sexy, Cool” artist as she described herself paying homage to her favorite trio, TLC, has so much in store for the upcoming year. We wanted to really get to know Savannah and started with the basics and how she linked with the D’Usse Family.

DJ Tarzan: So how did you and Rel start working together?
Rel: Well we used to date back in high school, gangsta. Rel joked.
SaVannah: My husband actually was working with Rel on tour. I was actually performing my new single. From there we just started creating a friendship. Its been almost 2 years now and I just kept working and performing.
DJ Tarzan: Wow. What’s the name of your new single and tell us a little more about the record.
SaVannah: ‘How I Do It’ which drops Aug. 8th- and hmm its kind one of those records I made specifically for women—
DJ Tarzan: Ohh man..
SaVannah: *Laughing* No not in that way per say, but more so everyday mantras, not having competition, doing your thing and have great work ethic. You know, I hang out with Rel a lot, we drink D’usse chillout it’s a vibe. The records just really a vibe, its a real vibe.
DJ Tarzan: We definitely want to check it out!
Charlie B: We can’t wait! Speaking about vibes and good positive energy, can you tell us a little more about where your from and how its influenced you so far?
SaVannah: Yes, so I’m from PG (Prince George’s) County, Maryland. Actually how I got my start was The Lion King, I played Young Nala when I was seven years old.
“What you say and what you do is real, so if you tell me something, you have to stand by it.” -Rel Carter, RocNation
SaVannah continued about how she went against twenty-thousand other young professional actresses over an eight month audition process and how her dance instructor told her parents how she had that “X-factor personality”. “From there I just kept working, kept practicing, learning new things and now I’m here.” SaVannah’s approach to creating techniques, celestial songwriting and dope dancing are what sets her apart from the rest, effortlessly molding her into a master behind the pen, on a stage, or in the booth. Her style is fresh, hip, and sure to get global attention. Get it girl!
