Chris Rock comes alongside Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures to inspire the reboot of the Saw franchise.
Yes! Comedian Chris Rock says that he’s always loved the franchise since the first Saw Movie in 2004 which turned on his motivation to pick up the pen and present his twisted mind stating he was “excited” to take the film “to a really intense and twisted new place.”
The original producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules are returning to produce ‘Saw’ with Rocks original storyline. Darren Lynn Bousman who’s consecutively directed 3 out of 8 Saw movies will be again directing this reboot, making sure it’s a seamlesss continuation to the sequel.
This horror film plays a game of life or death with victims that are forced to prove their will to live by performing extrinsic challenges put infront of them by sadistic mastermind John Kramer aka Jigsaw Killer who reveals clues to unlocking the time sensitive death locks. Ultimatly to teach the victims essential life lessons.
The only clues we have for now is in casting. Rock will headline as a detective, with Minghella (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) co-starring as his partner, William Schenk, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Riverdale” actress Nichols will feature as Captain Angie Garza — aka Rock’s boss and Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson will play as Riverdales father. The plot of Saw 9 is being held behind locked doors, thus not yet given an official title. The new “Saw” movie will be in theaters October 23, 2020.
