Variety brings word that the production of Scream 5 will commence later this month. Additionally, French-Arab singer and model Sonia Ammar is being added to the cast list. She’ll be acting beside returning cast members David Arquette, Courteney Cox, and Neve Campbell, who’ll take on their iconic roles as Dewey Riley, Gale Weathers, and Sidney Prescott.
While plot details are under wraps, the film will allegedly follow “a woman returning to her home town who will try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.” Scream 5 will debut in January 2022.
The first movie was released in 1996, becoming the highest-grossing slasher movie of all-time until last year’s reboot of Halloween took the crown. Because the first Scream did well, it went on to have three sequels. Scream also has a show which was picked up by MTV. It ran on the music television network for two seasons until VH1 took ownership of its rebooted third season.
