The release of the Scream 6 trailer has audiences all over raging for more! The film reintroduces some familiar faces, as a mix of legacy and newer cast members find themselves once again with nowhere to run from the Ghostface killer. The trailer reveals only five characters Tara, Sam, Chad, Mindy, and David. With viewers already intense, we find our starting five on a subway with yet another maniac in New York City during one of the worst seasons ever……for them. Ghostface killer is notorious for hiding in plain sight; as a fulfilling twist, directors Matt Bettinelli-Oplin and Tyler Gillett placed us right in the middle of Halloween season. Now among a crowd of people in costumes on a subway, we can surely anticipate the survival of the returning crew being more than complicated this time around. Starring sisters, Tara (Jenna Ortega) and Sam (Melissa Barrera) trying to acquire a more peaceful life in New York are terrorized by a new Ghostface copycat as we have learned Sam is the illegitimate child of Billy (Scream 5), which gives reason for the target on their backs.
Moving to the Big Apple during Halloween gives the killer more potential victims and is speculated to be the most violent version of the “re-quel”! Wednesday and Scream star Jenna Ortega mentioned, “Ghostface gets a lot more intimidating. I just read part of the script, and it just gets more and more gory,”. She happily continued, “I think that this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think will really be fun to shoot.”
Melissa Barrera adds, ”There was a saying on set because (directors) Matt and Tyler were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more. “More blood spritz” was the saying because they would just always want more,” Barrera explained. “With the last Scream, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.” Thus the, “more blood, more sweat” mantra being born on set. Much excitement and suspense from the minute reveal as fans across the world get ready for another chilling thriller from the series, Scream 6.
