After their fourth World Cup win, many people feel like things need to change for the U.S Women’s National Soccer Team, most specifically the legendary rapper Snoop Dogg. In an Instagram Post shared this Sunday, July 7th, Snoop Dogg opened up about his disappointment in the massive pay gap between genders.
According to The Guardian, Snoop questioned the fact that the women’s soccer team only makes $90,000 per player in bonus money for reaching the quarterfinals, even though the men would have made $500,000 for the same stage.
During an interview with CNN on Tuesday night, Anderson Cooper played the short clip for U.S soccer star Megan Rapinoe. Cooper then jokingly asked the athlete whether she would bring the rapper to the mediation between the U.S. Soccer Federation and the women’s soccer players suing the corporation regarding their pay discrimination suit. Rapinoe jokingly responded to the clip.
“I think that’s probably the best strategic move. We have a good team of lawyers but we’re going to put them on the back burner for this.”
