The Sonic realm has found its Amy Rose in Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell.
According to Deadline, the actress is set to voice the blue hedgehog’s love interest in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Her character was initially teased at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, along with a gang of angry Silver Sonics ready to attack Sonic at full force.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 finds Ben Schwartz, who plays Sonic, reprising his role. As irony may have it, he was also the one who spilled the beans about Bell’s role in the upcoming film on social media.
Details about Sonic the Hedgehog 4 were revealed by the director of Sonic the Hedgehog. While speaking to Screen Rant, Jeff Fowler spoke about making the film more “fresh” by adding new characters. He further expressed that no matter where the franchise goes, it’ll always reflect the game’s mythology. Regardless of where it lands, it’ll always cement itself in the original gameplay. Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic movies, said in an interview with Cinema Blend that he’s “open to the idea” of reprising his role as the archvillain in future installments.
