Spinderella, born Deidre “Dee Dee” Roper, has claimed that she is owed more than $600,000 in royalties over the past 10 years and also says she wasn’t paid what she was owed for appearing on VH1′s “The Salt-N-Pepa Show,” and also for being with the group at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The long-time DJ of Salt-N-Pepa, took to social media disclosing her impending absence from future performances.
“Despite my participation in promoting the tour and being highly publicized as one of the acts, in January 2019 I received a ‘termination’ email from #SaltnPepa excluding me from performances with the group.”
Spinderella and her legal team requested a temporary restraining order along with immediate relief against Salt-N-Pepa and its management, but the Dallas U.S. District Court Judge rejected said requests, ordering the case to mediation. Spinderella’s lawyer, Paul Stafford, later told Billboard, “Although the Court denied today’s request for a temporary restraining order, Salt-N-Pepa have agreed [to] not make any reference to Spinderella in connection with any promotion, and will make good faith efforts to cause others to honor the same.”
