At last, Summer Walker has gifted us the long-awaited music video for her hit record “Body.” The track debuted on her 2019 platinum album Over It, alongside “Come Thru” featuring Usher and “Playing Games.” Now over a year later, the music video captures her pregnancy with Over It producer London on da Track.
Filmed in Calabasas and Malibu, California, by director Lacey Dukes, Walker is glowing, and radiating peace in the sun as the camera focuses at her and her baby bump. Her journey to motherhood permeates self-love and a new-found meaning into the seductive R&B track. Though the Atlanta native confirmed her pregnancy in November, the guest appearance of her little one was a pleasant surprise for us all.
Though the records lyrics carry a sensual theme as she sings, “I don’t know what it is. I can’t tell you what it is. But you got me goin’ crazy. Sex with you is so amazin,” ‘Body’ takes on new perspective with this video, as Walker approaches motherhood. “I think you should do what makes you feel good about your body,” she shared in an interview with Harpers Bazaar. “I think I’ll be a great mom, I’m super excited,” Walker says.
Walker, who now has a Billboard Music Award and a Soul Train Award under her belt, has had a quick ascent since her EP Last Days of Summer broke out in 2018. Since then, she’s been widely acknowledged for her sultry vocals and emotionally raw approach that paints both deep insecurities and intimate desires with utter realness.
