Bring your tent, your blankie, Star Wars pjs and handle it! This seems to be the mantra for a group of Fans in Hollywood who have already started camping outside for the Star Wars release a week in advance.
A record breaking number of pre-sale tickets have already been sold all over the globe- Nearly breaking the internet the first hour tickets became available for purchase. But who’s getting seats first? Apparently this group of campers have slept over at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood for the past 20 years. The team keeps their spirits up by playing with Star Wars Lego sets and raising Charity for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
One of the Star Wars troopers tweeted an update that show he’s been out on Hollywood Blvd for 4 days strong, 6 more to go!
Yahoo news reported that fans have traveled from the UK and Japan to meet at the Chinese Theatre. The fan community has made the waiting area very comfortable, laying out rugs and setting up projectors to catch up on Disney+ and old movies.
To date there are about 25 Warsies (plural fandom slang for fans of Star Wars films and/or media franchise) waiting for the Rise of Skywalker and a number of about 100 more are on their way.
While they wait, they raise awareness for Starlight Children’s Foundation in goal to gift families in need a seat in the viewing. The team has lightened up their tactics over the years as before they’d go trooping 6 weeks before the films scheduled release. Getting good feedback over the years, they’ve actually been invited into a screening in 2015 for The Force Awakens.
Some of the Rise of Skywalker stars are expected to walk a red carpet day of the world premiere release. The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Oscar Issac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Kelly Marie Tran, Richard E Grant, Keri Russel, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams.
There’s a lot of anticipation that comes with this wait! New characters coming into play, the last scenes of the beloved Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia, Ian McDiarmid’s Emperor of Palpatine and the return of J.J Abrams all to conclude the Skywalker saga.
May the force be with them until the Rise of Skywalker reaches theaters December 20th!
