Best Director Academy Award nominee, Rob Marshall is magic wanding together another live-action Disney picture. And he did a great job at getting together a casting crew that is fresh and trendy bait- catching all the attention! Let’s start with the star- Halle Bailey!
If you had to read her name twice, you and I are one in the same creature. But we’re not completely lost at sea: The double take isn’t a rare call. Halle Berry actually reached out to 19 year old actress and singer, Halle Bailey to congratulate her on her casting as Ariel tweeting, “In case you needed a reminder…. Halles get it DONE!” Facts! According to Coming Soon.net:
“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” said director Rob Marshall in a statement.
Halle is most known for her feature in Grownish (2018), A Wrinkle In Time (2018) and Last Holiday (2016). She’s also part of an R&B duo, CHLOE x HALLE with her sister, Chloe. The sisters sang the National Anthem to kick off the 2017 NFL Draft and again at the 2019 Super Bowl pregame!
Is it just me or does it sound likes she’s hitting some “Under The Sea” notes already?
Some of the other cast members include Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Ariel’s best friend who is a fish, Awkwafina will play Scuttle the seagull, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
