Good News Marvel fans, Spider-Man will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. There were conflicts between Marvel Studios and Sony in regards to the shared rights of Spider-Man. The two studios confirmed that the film will be released in theaters on July 16, 2021, and will be jointly produced by the two studios, with of course Tom Holland as the lead role.
Following the news, Kevin Feige released a statement ” I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
The discrepancies occurred between the two studios because of profit sharing. The two came to a conclusion that they stood to earn FAR more together than they would if Sony brought Tom Holland’s Spider-Man back to their side of the playing field.
Allegedly, the press release hints at Spider-Man presence in another Marvel film.
How do you guys feel about Spider-Man staying in the MCU? What direction do you think they will go in moving forward?
