The live-action Tomb Raider TV show has found its Lara Croft. According to MSN, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is set to play the main character. Turner is also known for her role in Joan and the recent X-Men movies. The Tomb Raider series is based on the popular video game franchise storyline, the game’s main character, Lara Croft, and much more. In the words of Amazon MGM’s Jennifer Salke, the show is “epic” with a “globe-trotting” adventure.
So far, the details are under wraps. However, actress and screenwriter Phoebe Walkers-Bridge is the mastermind behind the series.
“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode,” Walkers-Bridge said about the opportunity.
“Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
“With great IP, the possibilities are endless. The richness and depth of the fiction allows the Tomb Raider series from Prime Video and the video game from Amazon Games to tell separate stories about Lara Croft’s adventures,” Amazon Games’ Christoph Hartman stated.
This new venture is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. The Tomb Raider series has been in the works since January of 2023.
