Just two weeks ago, Tory Lanez announced that his highly anticipated project, Chixtape 5 would be dropping on November 15th. But in the meantime, Lanez has been making sure to spread the word like wildfire through press releases and heavy promotion.
Recently, Lanez went a little in-depth with HipHopDX about what fans can expect from his new album. He also made sure to mention those who took part of each track. One of the biggest misconceptions in the game is that artist often have to splurge thousands of dollars to get a feature with someone more established. But thats when they’re wrong. During his interview, Lanez claims that he has yet to pay out of his pocket for collabs. In fact, since he’s starting to become a veteran in the game, he often finds that artist are willing to extend their hearts out instead of their money grabbing palms. According to HotNewHipHop, “he credits that as being industry trade-offs with artists in an unspoken agreement of doing each other favors.” On the contrary, Lanez does admit to the press that hes paid a clearance for 2 Chainz, “I didn’t understand why I was paying for the clearance, but whatever. That’s probably the closest thing I’ve ever… He charged me like, $50,000, bruh! I was mad as f*ck. I called that n*gga up like, ‘Bruh, boy you trippin’, bruh.’ He was like, ‘Nah, bruh. Lil Wayne charged me [$75,000], $100,000 one time.’ I said, aight, cool.”
Likewise, the rapper unveiled that the most he ever received for a feature was $150K from a London-based artist.
Besides this, Lanez tells all about his about his recent encounter with Tyga, who gave him a reference for a good hair stylist. To return this selfless act, Lanez is offering Tyga unlimited features.
