Pixar’s Toy Story star Tim Allen revealed that the fifth installment will focus on cowgirl Jessie and reunite Woody and Buzz Lightyear. During an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, Allen, who plays Buzz Lightyear, spoke about the storyline in Toy Story 5 and how he and Tom Hanks’ character Woody will have a reunion.
“It’s such a great story. I can only tell a little bit of it,” he stated. “It’s a Jessie story, Tom and I have to reunite, and there’s just the funniest thing, because there’s a whole bunch of Buzzes involved. And there’s a reason why there’s a whole bunch of me, so there’s 100 of me in a separate story, and I’m having so much fun.”
Toy Story 5 was first announced in 2023. It’s set to be directed by Andrew Stanton, known for his work on Finding Nemo, Wall-E, and who also penned the screenplay for this highly anticipated sequel. Besides Hank and Allen, the movie will also star Joan Cusack as Jessie, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, Tony Hale as Forky, and Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants. The plot will apparently have some bits about technology as well. Bonnie will have a tablet named Lilypad, voiced by Anna Farris.
