Amid the ongoing protests and fights for justice, musicians have taken part in the Black Lives Matter movement. Two artists that recently stepped in the name of equality are Usher and Trey Songz. Yesterday, Trey Songz posted a snippet of himself and the “Don’t Waste My Time” singer riding through Los Angeles on bikes with the Black Rides For Black Lives march. Usher can also be heard leading the “No Justice No Peace” chant while Trey Songz joins him. “Today was dope‼️ Too many people to @ that came out, the energy was so positive and high,” Trey Songz penned as the caption.
Besides this, Trey Songz released a song that’s guaranteed to impact the world titled “2020 Riots: How Many Times.” The song released following Trey Songz’s appearance on DJ D-Nice’s IG Live Session. He explained the song’s meaning a few days later.
“Three or four nights ago, I woke up in the middle of my sleep…I couldn’t sleep. My chest was hurting,” he said. “With the words in this song, I just wanted to speak to everyone’s hearts and acknowledge the pain and anguish everyone is going through. I know this ain’t usually my message, and you’re not used to hearing this from me, but this is the person I’ve always been.”
