This may not categorize under music or movies but bars do provide a sense of entertainment during the weekend night hours. This pandemic is not easy for anybody, all of our lives have changed within a few days when just last week, we were going about our daily routines. With all of the government warnings, businesses temporarily closing, schools being virtual – we need to hear some heartwarming news. New Jersey News 12 picked up on a story out of Hazlet at Vibe Tap & Grill where the owner, Luigi made his contribution to the Monmouth County town.
Instead of reserving the food for take out, deliveries and curbside – Luigi instead got together with his management team to help the people instead. Originally the restaurant was going to follow suit with all the others regarding online orders but his heart told him otherwise. He decided to give away free meals to Hazlet’s police and fire department along with many of the essential workers and just overall, anybody who needed food to feed their families. On Saturday, March 21st, he did just that with the help of his staff and the support of the town.
“We delivered to the Hazlet police department. Some stopped by to take a picture with Luigi. They were very grateful. We served a lot of drive up vehicles with people in need, plus those picking up for the elderly in the neighborhoods. Danielle was able to deliver to a church in her town in need of help. All in all, an amazing day with amazing people. Thank you Luigi and family for what you have done.”
Theresa, volunteer server sent a heartfelt message to the owner in the Vibe employee group chat.
When we reached out to Luigi for a statement, he replied:
I couldn’t do it without my staff behind me. I don’t want all the credit because everyone helped yesterday and plus all of you guys that support me. We are a big family here at Vibe. We support the community and make a conscious effort to help whenever we can. Thank you!
Bar manager, Danielle posted on her social media giving props:
I just have to give credit where credit is due. My boss, the owner of The Vibe in Hazlet, deserves some credit. Instead of making money off of take out, he cooked off all the food in the restaurant, donated it and gave it away for free all day. We had cars lined up and we gave hot prepared food for each family member. I can not even begin to tell you all the love and respect I have for this man. It’s an honor to work for him. I hope all the locals remember all the good he did when we are back open for business when this is over.
Vibe Tap & Grill can be found in Hazlet at 2870 NJ-35 across from the Cinemark Theater. Normal business hours at from 12 PM – 10 PM Monday through Friday and 2 AM on Friday and Saturday’s.
