Warner Bros. animated movie, Scoob! will premiere on-demand rather than theaters like intended, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The flick will be available to rent on May 15th, 2020, for $19.99 and $24.99 with the rental period at 48 hours. Scoob! is based on the 1976 animated mystery comedy series The Scooby-Doo Show.
“While we’re all eager to be able to show our films in theaters once again, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content,” Warner Bros. chairman-CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement. “We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”
The forthcoming film is penned by The Addams Family’s Matt Lieberman and directed by Space Jam’s Tony Cervone. Scoob! will see the mystery-solving crew team up with other characters from the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from a supervillain named Dick Dastardly.
It stars Zac Efron as Fred Jones, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake, Will Forte as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, Tracy Morgan as Dick Dastardly, and Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo. Mark Wahlberg and Jason Isaacs have also been given the roles of superhero Blue Falcon and villain Dick Dastardly.
