William Shatner takes to Syfy Wire to express his interest in reprising his role as Captain Kirk in the ‘idea status’ Rated R, Star Trek.
The original Caption James T. Kirk, laughed through an interview as he spoke of reciprocal love for the director Quentin Tarentino, and the factors that would contribute to him possibly reprising his role. Shatner said:
“If you’re going to do Star Trek, fifty years later, a few pounds heavier, come on, not a problem.”
The now 88 years old actor previously mentioned in a tweet that if the role was proposed to him with script writing he approves of, taking on the role would be something he’d consider. Other Star Trek alums like Patrick Stewart and Zachary Quinto have also let it be known they too may be available for the film.
Should Quentin Tarantino decide to take on the project, the return of originals may distract core fans from the R rating goal and keep the gross report rock solid.
When or even if we can expect another Star Trek is still unknown but the director has stated that the sequential film is “a very big possibility.”
