Over the past several decades, Americans have been witness to a number of high profile crimes that often seem too outlandish to even be real. From kidnappings and murders to everything in between, there is evil lurking behind every corner just waiting to be exposed and thwarted by law enforcement the moment that the evil actors behind these things slip up. When they do, their actions are often put on full display as news networks and journalists seek to uncover the evil that has been plaguing a community and the reasoning behind their deprived behavior. Then there are also documentarians and film producers who see the opportunity to put their creative touch on these jarring stories to present them in a way that is suspenseful, gripping and, above all else, entertaining in a way that most wouldn’t have thought possible. Now we have the latest example of that, with the official trailer for The Resurrection of Charles Manson being unveiled today just a few weeks before the project is set to theaters.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Charles Manson was the leader of the Manson Family, a cult which resides in California and was fueled by rampant substance abuse and sex amongst many other things. It was in 1969 when he and his followers committed a string of murders, best known today as the Tate-LaBianca murders, which included the well-known actress Sharon Tate and propelled the Manson Family to infamy. To this very day the story of Charles Manson is shrouded in mystery and conspiracy, with some experts going as far as theorizing that Manson himself was the subject of experiments involving psychedelic drugs being conducted by the CIA that pushed Manson and his followers to commit such egregious acts of violence. The Resurrection of Charles Manson doesn’t directly focus on Manson’s story however: instead, it tells the story of an aspiring actress and her boyfriend who rent an AirBNB in the middle of the desert as she prepares to audition for a role in another project about Manson. Before she can make it to that audition however, followers of Manson himself take it upon themselves to pay tribute to their leader and attempt to sacrifice said actress and her boyfriend in a parallel very similar to the aforementioned Tate-LaBianca murders. The official and ominous trailer can be seen below, and moviegoers can look forward to seeing The Resurrection of Charles Manson when it debuts in theaters on March 16th.
For years now, serial killers and the depraved acts they commit have been of substantial interest to Hollywood. How regular people can commit such heinous acts and the extent of these acts is something that most humans simply cannot wrap their heads around, making them incredibly interesting to filmmakers as they attempt to present their crimes in a way that is educational as well as enthralling. While Charles Manson is just one example of this, he is arguably one of the best given the details of his crimes and should make The Resurrection of Charles Manson very intriguing, and moviegoers can find out for themselves when the project premieres in just 2 weeks.
