NPR, a platform known for spotlighting hot music, news, health science, and everything in between, has called on Young Thug to dominate their new Tiny Desk segment. But, instead of opting for a regular hip-hop performance, Thugger turned things up a notch by relaying his songs in a punk rock fashion. In hindsight, this experimental show was to introduce his upcoming project, Punk. While on stage, he played alongside a live band and Travis Barker.
On Sunday, Young Thug previewed a song off Punk called “Tick Tock” at Rolling Loud in Miami.
He also played this tune and other tracks during his time on NPR’s Tiny Desk. This includes “Die Slow,” “Droppin Jewels,” and his guitar-embedded “Hate the Game.”
Not to mention, the melodic rapper performed “Ski” to close out his performance. “Ski” just so happened to go viral once it hit Tik Tok’s popular music segment. In turn, Young Thug made a dance challenge that relayed to music lovers worldwide. The dance consists of making ski motions and standing still for an instant.
Young Thug’s fashion style seemingly fits with the overall music delivery. He dons a self-curated Spider brand customized tee along with glistening jewelry and warm orange sunglasses. The artist also tops it off with his dyed pink hair. The band is wearing matching pink tank tops and biker shorts.
Punk comes right after Slime Language 2, which comprises the artists from his record label, YSL, and other music icons. Slime Language 2 went on to peak at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Young Thug’s new album drops on October 15, 2021.
