Sweden-based artist, Yung Lean is best known for his projects Strangers and Starz. His most recent album, Starz, “shows Yung Lean more focused and refined than ever, further developing his signature dreamy aesthetics while mixing in bolder experimental pop elements, according to Earmilk.”
Today, Yung Lean announced that he’d be donating the entirety of his streaming and merch royalties from the two albums to Black Lives Matter and bail funds. He voiced this over Instagram with a white text box flick that reads, “As a kid growing up in Sweden, all my heroes were black American musicians. I have met people all over the world, and I learned that we’re all similar until I got older and realized we’re not all treated similarly. The United States Of America is a fucked up country, and it’s built on blood. There is no way around it.” He also added ways that fans can take part in fighting for justice.
