Griselda Records‘ first lady, Armani Caesar, was not exaggerating when she delivered this hard-hitting line, “I get in the booth, no turkey, I go ham,” in her song “THE LIZ.”
Having already gained a seal of lyrical approval from hip-hop outlets like Revolt, Hot New Hip Hop, The Source, Complex, UpRoxxx, HypeBeast, Pitch Fork, and Yahoo Entertainment, Armani Caesar attest to her proficiency with the pen through each release. Sonically, the Pretty Girls Get Played Too femcee bridges laid-back, direct rhymes with a boom-bap musical styling akin to the ’90s.
Not only has Armani Caesar’s verse on Westside Gunn’s hit single “Lil Cease” been deemed as Complex’s Best Rap Verses Of 2020, but she’s also been added to UpRoxx’s most anticipated albums of Fall 2020. Case in point, Armani Caesar’s line of musical accomplishments only shows that her artistry remains unmatched.
Yet, this is only a lump sum of Armani’s successes.
Outside of music, Armani is a fashionista and owns a boutique called Armani’s Closet. The company made its worldwide debut with BET when Megan Thee Stallion wore a dress from the rapstresses’ collection. Since then, celebrities such as The Clermont Twins, Tokyo Stylez, Fashion Bomb Daily, and more have been spotted flaunting clothes from her establishment. Additionally, Armani Caesar has given back to the community by supporting black businesses and those in need during COVID-19, and she’s released a 7 Day Manual for aspiring entrepreneurs worldwide.
Armani Caesar has been musically inclined since she was young, beginning her journey by writing rhymes at 8 or 9 years old. “My mom was in a choir. My grandma was a huge hip-hop head. My uncle was a DJ. It’s just in my genes to make music,” she told HipHopDX.
Fast forward to her teenage years, and Armani Caesar met Benny the Butcher and Conway the Machine at Buff City Studios in Buffalo, New York, where she’s originally from. While she was scoping out the building, Armani started writing a verse while waiting for the owner to show up. That same verse grabbed Benny The Butcher’s attention and landed her a spot alongside him and Conway. From there, she released a debut mixtape called Bath & Body Work in 2009, with features from both Benny and Conway.
More recently, Armani Caesar dropped an 11-track project titled THE LIZ, but before this, she collaborated with DJ Premier and Benny The Butcher for her summer hit single, “Simply Done.”
Clocking in at nearly 26 minutes, THE LIZ serves listeners with both the old and new school sound. The duration of this EP sees Armani Caesar tapping into an unbothered flow as she uses straightforward lyrics to talk about the everyday grind, loyalty, staying ten toes down, and remaining true to herself.
Not to mention, Armani showcases top-tier rhymes that speak about how “real queens go through things.”
