Some of you may know the Texas sensation Tay Money from her singles “Moneyway,” “Bussin” and, “Trappers Delight” but during a recent interview, The Feature Presentation was able to get to know her on a much deeper level. Beyond being a badass female rapper from Dallas who creates nothing but bangers, she is real, genuine, and oozing with pretty-girl swag.
We caught up with the rapper during a Zoom press conference, where she revealed the release date of her upcoming mixtape Blocked, and we gained further insight on what it was like for her coming up in the rap game. Clearly, Texas is the hotspot for talent this year as it has birthed artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, and herself who are forward thinking, self aware women. In the case of Tay, the rising star has been breaking gender boundaries in the rap game for years, and it is so sweet that we now get to watch it pay off. As stated by FLAUNT Magazine Tay is indeed, “One of the hottest female rappers of our generation.”
Watch below as we discuss the making of “Bussin,” (which has taken TikTok by storm with over 10 million streams), what we should expect to hear on her upcoming mixtape, and the overall impact she wishes to make on her listeners.
If you’re curious about what Blocked will sound like, just know that it will be packed with more hip shaking, bad bitch anthems! Having been through some tough moments in her life, where she didn’t feel or do her best, she knows exactly what it’s like to start from the bottom and grind your way to the top. However, though she embodies strength and independence, and is transparent as an artist, she wants her music to always deliver good vibes, and motivation.
“I’ve been through some things in my life where I didn’t really feel that good…I want them [the listeners] to know that it’s okay to to not be strong and perfect all the time. You can be weak, but here, turn this on and I bet you turn into a whole brand new bitch, bussin!” she shared in her velvety southern twang,
Tay is set to release her EP, Blocked, on January 24th along with her lead single titled, “Friendly,” featuring Key Glock. In the meantime, tap in to her world of beauty, money, and bad-bitch-realness, by streaming some of our personal favorites below.
