The 93rd annual Academy Awards aka the Oscars premiered last night on ABC. After being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the award show was able to host an intimate in-person show. It’s main location was in Union Station, LA. According to reports, the Oscars had its lowest viewership ever, after making great strides to make exceptions to qualifications and diversifying its nominations.
Diversity was the big winner this year on the Oscar stage, from talks of the Chauvin trial to Tyler Perry asking the world to, “Refuse hate.” Following through on its, “Stories very much like yours,” promotion, diversity showed up loud and proud! Taking lead with a big win was, Chloé Zhao, Director of Nomadland, and also the first woman of color to win in Best Director category. There were so many other amazing and diversified wins.
