Reboots and spin-offs are only becoming increasingly commonplace in Hollywood. As technology develops and demands for content shift rapidly, more often Hollywood executives are returning to the films and television series that helped them get where they are today. From children’s classics to the most iconic horror films, the level of nostalgia is higher than ever before in the entertainment industry. Now a new show is going to attempt to illuminate the process behind creating these new projects in a series aptly titled Reboot.
From the co-creator of Modern Family Steve Levitan, Reboot follows the cast of an early 2000’s sitcom after their show is rebooted and they are back on set working together once again. Things are not always as they seem however, and the dysfunctional cast at the heart of the series isn’t nearly as excited about the prospect of a reboot. Instead, they are forced to deal with issues that were left unresolved when the original show finished filming as they attempt to recreate the same magic in the new project they’re working on. Reboot is being produced by Hulu, and so far has cast Johnny Knoxville and Keegan-Michael Key to star in the new series.
Levitan was definitely thinking outside of the box when he came up with this one. The concept is reminiscent of Seth Rogen and James Franco’s 2017 film The Disaster Artist which took an inside look at the making of the cult-classic film The Room, but on television instead. It should be interesting to watch, and they have already enlisted the help of two of the funniest men in Hollywood to help. Details about Reboot are being kept under wraps for the time being, but fans can expect the series to debut on Hulu in the coming future.
