Moana is still setting sail for more adventures in the Disneyverse.
Ahead of the premiere for the live-action Moana on July 10th, its been revealed that there just might be a third animated movie. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who plays Maui in both the animated and live-action films, confirmed in an interview that Moana 3 is being discussed.
“Yes, we have talked about ‘Moana 3,’ but first, live-action Moana, we’ll let that come out first,” Johnson said during a press event for the new movie.

The first two animated Moana movies were huge successes in the box office for Disney. The original film, released in 2016, earned $643.3 million worldwide. Meanwhile, 2024’s Moana 2 made more than $1.059 billion globally.
Disney also shared what’s coming next for its animation studios. The next original Disney animated movie, Hexed, will be released on November 25, which follows a teenage girl named Billie, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who discovers she has magical powers after being taken to a mysterious land called Hexe. The voice cast also includes Rashida Jones, Tracey Ullman, and Stephen Fry.
