Since the genre was first incepted in the first half of the 20th century, superhero films have become one of the biggest mainstays in Hollywood. Inspiring the young audiences they were crafted for with awe and amazement, superheroes such as Superman and Spider-Man have established themselves as some of the most iconic franchises the film industry has ever had to offer. While both of the aforementioned heroes came equipped with their fair share of otherworldly powers that made them so super, no two superheroes are crafted exactly alike and some of them even outright defy the stereotypes the most timeless superheroes may instill in viewers. Arguably the most out-of-the-box superheroes are the ones who utilize their money as a means of fighting evil, also defying the stereotypes of a capitalistic society in which the genre arose from, with one of those heroes set to make a return to theaters in the coming future: the new poster for The Batman, the latest installment in the iconic franchise heralded by the ttitutal hero, introduces fans to a new series of films centered around the iconic hero, and from the looks of it he won’t be alone either.
Originally rising to prominence in 1993 when the character first appeared in comics, Batman tells the story of a wealthy socialite by the name of Bruce Wayne who loses his parents at a young age and subsequently develops a desire to destroy the evil that took their lives. The character most recently appeared in film just over a decade ago when the incredibly successful series of films directed by Christopher Nolan hit theaters in The Dark Knight trilogy, starring Christian Bale in the role of the wealthy crime-fighting vigilante and garnering gargantuan success in box offices around the globe. Said trilogy is lauded by critics and fans alike and have lead many to question whether there will ever be a better performance of the iconic superhero than that of Bale’s, however it looks like it could get some pushback in the near future. DC Comics has released the first official trailer for The Batman, the latest reboot of the timeless superhero franchise that is sure to excite fans, and he is not alone. Alongside Batman, who is set to be played by Robert Pattinson, is another franchise mainstay who also appeared in Nolan’s trilogy of films in Catwoman, who is set to be played by the incredibly talented Zoë Kravitz. They will be joined by the likes of Paul Dano and Colin Farrel as the infamous Batman villains Riddler and Penguin, and the official poster for The Batman can be seen below with the project expected to premiere in theaters on March 4th.
Few superheroes if any have garnered the acclaim that Batman has since debuting over eight decades ago. His ability to fight crime with the resources available to him as opposed to some otherworldly powers made him incredibly relatable to young fans and subsequently allowed for his story to permeate their young minds and subsequently popular culture as a whole. Now DC and company have the honor of introducing generation after generation of new fans into the world of Gotham which Batman resides in, and The Batman will be the latest example of that when it debuts in theaters this March.
