Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller makes its next move as Verity arrives on digital platforms, inviting audiences to unravel a story where ambition, obsession, and disturbing revelations collide.
The secrets surrounding the Crawford family are officially making their way home. Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller Verity is set to arrive on digital platforms in the United States on October 27th, giving audiences the opportunity to rent or purchase the film following its theatrical debut earlier this month.
Starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, the film brings Hoover’s unsettling tale of literary ambition, complicated attraction, and potentially devastating secrets to the screen under the direction of Michael Showalter of The Idea of You.
For viewers who missed the film in theaters, the digital release offers a chance to experience the mystery from home and decide for themselves whether this adaptation delivers the psychological tension its source material promises.
Inside The Twisted World Of Verity
Based on Hoover’s bestselling novel, Verity follows Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer whose career takes an unexpected turn when she receives an unusual offer from Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett). Jeremy’s wife, Verity Crawford (Hathaway), is a celebrated author who has been left incapacitated following an accident. With the remaining installments of her successful book series unfinished, Jeremy hires Lowen to step in and complete the work.
What initially appears to be a career-changing opportunity quickly becomes something far more unsettling. After moving into the Crawford family’s remote estate to research Verity’s writing, Lowen discovers a disturbing manuscript that appears to reveal the celebrated author’s most personal confessions. As she reads deeper into its contents, the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to blur, forcing her to question the truth about Verity, her marriage, and the family’s troubling history.
With secrets lurking behind the walls of the Crawford estate, Lowen’s assignment transforms into a psychological puzzle in which every revelation raises new questions and trusting the wrong person could come at a devastating cost.
Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett Lead The Suspense
The film brings together three recognizable screen talents for a story built around shifting perspectives, hidden motives, and psychological games. Hathaway takes on the enigmatic title character, while Johnson portrays Lowen, the writer pulled into a mystery that threatens to consume her. Hartnett plays Jeremy, whose relationship with both women sits at the center of the story’s tension. The supporting cast includes Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner. The screenplay was written by Nick Antosca and Hoover, bringing the author directly into the adaptation of her own work.
