Over the course of Hollywood’s illustrious history, moviegoers and film fanatics alike have been introduced to a plethora of incredibly talented filmmakers. From the early works of Alfred Hitchcock to more modern filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan, these individuals and the projects they spearhead have come to define the ethos of Hollywood as we know it today. That ethos is constantly evolving as well, as new filmmakers enter the industry and produce new projects which allow them to put their unique twist on the world of entertainment to the pleasure of avid moviegoers. One filmmaker in particular has been making waves in Hollywood over the past few years, and now he is back with his latest project: this week we received the official trailer for Jordan Peele’s new animated film Wendell & Wild and it looks like the beloved filmmaker has another hit on his hands.
For those who may not be familiar with his name, Peele got his start in Hollywood roughly two decades ago when he began his career as an actor. Most fans likely remember him from his hit Comedy Central television show Key & Peele, a skit-based series that saw Peele and Keegan-Michael Key poke fun at a multitude of topics in a variety of uniquely hilarious ways. In 2017, Peele released his first film as director when the thought provoking thriller Get Out which received critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay the year it was released. Now the esteemed filmmaker is venturing into the world of animation, and this week Netflix released the first official trailer for the highly anticipated project Wendell & Wild. In that trailer, reposted below, viewers enter an ominous world where a young girl is seemingly being haunted by two ghoulish spirits, whose names serve as the title of the film, whom she is forced to combat with through a variety of ways in response to how those spirits attempt to infect and derail her life. The project certainly looks interesting and it should be equally intriguing to see if Peele’s talents carry over to the world of animation, and Netflix subscribers can find out for themselves when Wendell & Wild premieres on the platform on October 28th.
Peele has released a number of films since he first undertook the role of director in 2017, all of which have received considerable acclaim given the fact that he hasn’t been officially directing for a full decade yet. It looks like he is ready to dominate the entertainment industry no matter what genre of film he decides to tackle next, with the trailer for Wendell & Wild serving to prove that incredibly well. Eager fans won’t have to wait long to find out what Peele has in store for them either, with Wendell & Wild set to premiere on Netflix just in time for the Halloween season.
