Disney has decided not to move forward with a spinoff of Pirates of the Caribbean. The Margot Robbie-led film was said to have an all-female cast. However, the company rejected the initial idea for the project.
According to Robbie, she pushed for this unique take on the movie, but Disney chose not to go that route.
“We had an idea, and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led—not female-led, but just a different kind of story—which we thought would’ve been cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it,” she said during an interview.
Margot Robbie’s version of Pirates of The Caribbean was announced by the movie’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer earlier this year. Although no details were unveiled at the time, Bruckheimer did say two installments were in the works.
