Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa did numbers over the weekend with their Black Star Line Festival. According to HotNewHipHop, over 50,000 individuals were in attendance. At this same festival, T-Pain, Erykah Badu, Jeremih, Tobe Nwigwe, and Talib Kweli rocked the stage.
Before the event, the two rappers spent a week in Ghana with 8 Chicago-based scholars.
To Mensa, whose dad is from Ghana, the Black Star Festival served as a homecoming.
He said onstage,
“I had a dream about connecting the African people of the globe – to unify us as one people.”
When it was time for Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper to perform, they opted for their collaborative effort, “Cocoa Butter Kisses.”
