In the modern era of Hollywood, new film franchises come and go on what feels likes a daily basis. Some do an especially well job of resonating with fans while others simply fail to meet expectations, this is simply the name of the game in the entertainment industry. But those that do resonate often see continued success across a series of films that help cement the franchise’s place in Hollywood history which is especially true about today’s example. The John Wick franchise has already seen considerable success with Hollywood heavyweight Keanu Reeves at its helm, and now eager fans can look forward to the release of the fourth John Wick film as its release date rapidly approaches in the coming weeks.
The John Wick franchise first arose back in 2014 and saw the iconic Keanu Reeves utilize many of the moves he originally backed in The Matrix for the first time in many years in the titular role. He did such a good job that the John Wick franchise remains amongst the most popular in the entirety of Hollywood today with a total of three films released to date, the latest of which hitting theaters back in 2019 just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the pandemic has subsided though, the cast and crew behind the John Wick franchise are seemingly back with a vengeance as they prep for the release of their fourth film in less than a decade. In fact just earlier today we received the first official poster for John Wick: Chapter 4, reposted below, and while it doesn’t necessarily tell us anything specific about the upcoming film, it does tell eager fans that Reeves is back and better than ever in the franchise’s latest installment. Those fans will not have to wait long to see Reeves’ now iconic character return to the criminal underworld they had become so fond of across the franchise’s first three films either, with John Wick: Chapter 4 expected to debut in theaters on March 24th, 2023.
Keanu Reeves has been at the helm of the entertainment industry for decades now, making it of no surprise really that the John Wick franchise has reached the level of success it enjoys today. But I don’t think anybody expected it to be in competition with The Matrix franchise, the first franchise Reeves helped make a household name, but I don’t think anybody is complaining. Fans certainly aren’t, and they can mark off March 24th on their calendars as the official date they’ll get the opportunity to see what has become possibly the most iconic characters in film back on the big screen when John Wick: Chapter 4 premieres.
