What’s the word?
A new teaser that will have you on the edge of your seats has been released.
The creative director of the Joker franchise, Maisler, encountered Lady Gaga paying tribute with kind words for her as Harley Quinn. The Producers couldn’t have picked a better casting than this! Although being cast as the Oscar winner opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was not her original concept, Maisler praised Gaga’s talent as both a pop star and an actress, noting her ability to keep up with Phoenix.
Iconic Margot Robbie
Portraying and embodying the character of Quinn is indeed a demanding, as seen in the preceding performances by Margot Robbie. The transition for Gaga to fill these shoes, especially considering her roles in Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021), has been noted as both challenging and substantial. The casting director, alongside director Todd Phillips, had the surprising idea to cast Gaga in the role, recognizing her versatility as an actress and singer.
Interview featuring @Karlovy Vary ✨
In an interview at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with IndieWire, Maisler expressed that Gaga, known showcasing her acting skills “A Star Is Born,” demonstrated phenomenal talent by being able to match Phoenix’s performance.
The Casting Director Speak’s on Lady Gaga’s Interests
In the interview, Maisler highlighted Lady Gaga’s exceptional performance, mentioning, “She’s so good in it, you guys. She’s going to blow your mind. I’t suggest Lady Gaga. It wasn’t my idea. That was Todd Phillips, before me. But I will tell you, she really surprising— and really good. I saw it and I was really surprised.“
Reflecting on the conversation, she further added, “I mean, we knew what she could do in ‘ Star is Born,’ but I thought, ‘Oh, well, that’s kind in her wheelhouse.’ Something she could do and just real. But this… Man, she’s good. Joaquin blows your mind, but that she could keep with him, and be real — and not just wiped off the screen by what that role is and what the performance is — shows she’s good.”
