Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx‘s movie Back in Action has scored a high record following its debut on Netflix. Not only has the film hit the No. 1 spot on the streaming platform, but it also earned 46.8 million views. This is an accomplishment for Netflix, considering its last biggest debut happened years ago, thanks to The Adam Project.
Following Back in Action are two The Secret Life of Pets films, while another Diaz movie, the 2010 Knight and Day with Tom Cruise, takes the fourth spot with 5.2 million views. The film also features Andrew Scott, Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson. Meanwhile, Seth Gordon is the director.
The logline reads, “After leaving their CIA careers behind to raise a family, Emily and Matt are thrust back into the world of espionage when their cover is compromised.”
The spy thriller marked Diaz’s first return to the big screen since Annie, The Other Woman, and Sex Tape premiered in 2014. Back in Action centers on the married couple as they lead double lives. It was originally slated for a November 15, 2024 release, but has since moved to January 17, 2025.
